The STANDARD

The Safeguarding Alliance Standard has been established in the United Kingdom as an inspection and regulatory framework and best practice audit tool to set the benchmark for Safeguarding excellence for any organisation working with children or young people both nationally and internationally.

Achieving the Standard ensures that an organisation can demonstrate safeguarding excellence and that customers, parents and carers can be confident that safeguarding is given the highest priority.

It is through implementation of our safeguarding due diligence tool that an organisation is given the opportunity to demonstrate how they best meet safeguarding excellence, significantly increasing customer confidence, competitive advantage and prestige.

The Standard consists of 6 Elements that have been carefully established to ensure that Safeguarding is contextual and paramount in every element of the organisations practice in order to protect those most vulnerable.

Safeguarding is a ‘Golden Thread’ of protection throughout an organisation and must not be considered or managed in isolation.

Protecting organizational reputation, management, staff and young people the 6 elements are made up in the areas outlined below:

“External safeguarding audits are carried out once a year on all safeguarding procedures and practices across my school. This ensures accurate and effective validation of our procedures but also provides that much needed critical friend which ensures that we not only meet statutory responsibility but also go above and beyond. It is not about merely ensuring safeguarding is effective but it is about ensuring that we provide a place where our safeguarding practices are leading the way in the educational sector so that all stakeholders are truly safe and thrive in my school.”

Miss. Jones – Head of School Forest Hall School

Preparing for an assessment

You choose when to undertake your initial assessment against the Safeguarding Standard.

If you have already achieved the Safeguarding Alliance Standard and want to retain the quality mark, a review assessment must be undertaken within 3 years of the initial accreditation being issued.

In preparation for the assessment you will receive a detailed guidance booklet containing information relating to the assessment process and the criteria you will be assessed against.

Fee Framework

Our fees include a full assessment and report with continuous improvement checks carried out at 12 and 24 months following successful assessment.

When booking an assessment, our Assessor will determine the costs based on the size of the organisation and the head count. More complex or demanding organisations may require additional time and resource in order to complete a thorough assessment.
